5 Tips for Renting the Right Size Wedding Tent Grand Rapids, MI

When planning an outdoor wedding, it's important you have a backup plan in case it rains. If you've already picked out the venue, your next step should be to find the right wedding tent for your ceremony and reception. You'll need to do a little math to make sure your guests have enough room to sit, eat, dance, and mingle. Don't worry though. We've made it easy for you to find the perfect wedding tent rentals.

1.) Plan the Ceremony and Reception

Do you need wedding tent rentals for the ceremony, reception, or both? We ask this because it's not uncommon for couples to plan their ceremonies outside and their receptions indoors. You won't need as big a tent for the ceremony as you would for the reception because you won't be leaving space for the dance floor rental, band, DJ, buffet table, or whatever else you have in mind.

If you're planning an outdoor reception, you'll need to look at party tent rentals big enough to accommodate all your guests, catering, and entertainment.

2.) Count Your RSVPs

Are you using round or square table rentals? Your answer will partly determine how big a wedding tent you need. In general, rounds tables will require more square footage than their rectangular counterparts.

We can help you determine how many table and chair rentals you'll need to accommodate your guests. Just like you would with catering, we recommend renting slightly more tables and chairs than you think you'll need in case people show up at your wedding that didn't RSVP.

3.) Arrange for Bridal Party Seating

Will the bridal party be seated at a long head table? If so, you'll need to make sure you look at party tent rentals with enough space. Pro tip: Take how many people are in your bridal party, including you and your fiancé(e), and divide by four. This is the number of 8-foot tables you'll need to create the head table.

The head table should stand apart from the rest of the room so it's the focal point of attention. We recommend having 10' by 10' per head table so you and your bridal party will have enough room to get in and out.

4.) Think Square

When you determine how much space you'll need, get the party tent with the squarest dimensions. Square party tents tend to have higher ceilings than rectangular ones, which will help keep your guests cool. A square party tent will also prevent your guests from feeling excluded from the celebrations.

5.) Be Cool

If the weather is going to be hot (as is the case with most summer weddings), you'll want to rent some fans to keep the ceremony or reception area cool. The fans will help circulate air throughout the tent. Believe us when we say your guests will appreciate being able to escape the summer heat.
